What we help with

TV and streaming problems we can sort out

Smart TV will not join Wi-Fi

Wrong password, TV too far from the router, or the TV can see Wi-Fi but "no internet". We check the TV, the router and your other devices.

Setting up a streaming device

Plugging in and setting up a Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV or Chromecast, joining Wi-Fi and signing in to your account.

Apps and sign-ins

Adding Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, YouTube and similar apps, fixing "sign in again" loops, and finding the right account and password.

Sound, picture and remotes

No sound, wrong input, a remote that stopped working, or connecting a soundbar. We guide you step by step; some of these need a new battery or a new remote.

Casting from phone or tablet

Showing photos or videos from your phone on the TV. See phone and tablet help.

TV won't connect to Wi-Fi: a simple checklist

  1. Check another device. Does your phone get online on the same Wi-Fi? If not, the problem is the router or internet, not the TV.
  2. Restart the TV the slow way. Switch it off, unplug it from the wall for a full minute, then plug it back in. This clears more than the remote's off button.
  3. Restart the router. Unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Wait a few minutes for the lights to settle.
  4. Re-enter the Wi-Fi password. Look for capital letters, and check you picked your own network name, not a neighbour's.
  5. Move closer if you can. A TV in a far room or behind a thick wall may get a weak signal. A short test with the router nearby tells you a lot.
  6. Still stuck? Call us. We talk you through it and you stay in control.

If a message on your TV or a caller says your TV is infected or tells you to phone a number, do not call it. Real TVs do not show phone numbers for virus help. See virus and scam clean-up.

What remote support can and cannot do

Being honest about limits

  • A TV cannot be shared the way a computer can, so we guide you by voice while you hold the remote. We can also help from your computer or phone, with your permission, for account and sign-in problems.
  • We cannot repair a broken screen, a failed Wi-Fi part or a dead remote. A repair shop, the maker or a new remote may be needed.
  • We do not set up pirated streams, "free channel" boxes or ways around a subscription.
  • We do not sell streaming services or subscriptions. You need your own accounts.
  • If we cannot fix it remotely, you are not charged.
Questions

Smart TV and streaming questions

Can you fix my smart TV that will not connect to Wi-Fi?

Often, yes. We stay on the phone and talk you through each step on your TV remote, and we check your router and other devices too. Most Wi-Fi problems with TVs turn out to be the router, the Wi-Fi password or the TV being too far from the router. If the TV's Wi-Fi part has failed, only a repair will fix that, and we will tell you so.

Can you see or control my TV remotely?

No. We guide you by voice while you hold the remote, so you always see what is happening. For account sign-ins and app problems we can also help from a computer or phone with your permission.

My streaming keeps freezing or buffering. Why?

Usually the Wi-Fi signal is weak where the TV or streaming stick is, or the internet plan is shared with many devices at once. We check the signal, the router and the streaming device settings. See our Wi-Fi and router help page if the signal is the problem.

Can you help me set up Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV or Chromecast?

Yes. We help you plug it in, join Wi-Fi, sign in to your account and add apps such as Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video or YouTube. You need to have your own subscriptions and passwords. We do not sell streaming services and cannot give you free access to any.

Can you get me free TV channels or unlock extra channels?

No. We do not set up pirated or unlicensed streaming. Sites and boxes that promise every channel for a small fee are a common way for malware and scams to reach your home.

How much does it cost?

A one-time remote session is a flat $100 CAD, for customers in Canada and the United States. If we cannot fix the problem remotely, you are not charged.
