What we help with

Email and account problems we can sort out

Setting up email

Adding Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo or iCloud mail to a new computer, phone or tablet, so your messages and contacts show up where you expect.

Email stopped working

Can't send, can't receive, keeps asking for a password, or the mail app shows an error. We find the cause with you and fix it.

Locked out of an account

We guide you through the provider's own recovery steps and help you gather what it asks for. We never get into accounts that are not yours.

Passwords

Choosing a strong password you can remember, changing an old one, and setting up a password manager if you would like one.

Two-factor sign-in

Setting up the extra code step that keeps your accounts safer, and making sure you have a backup way in if you lose your phone.

Contacts, folders and a full mailbox

Moving contacts to a new device, finding missing messages, and clearing space when your mailbox says it is full.

Try this first

"My email won't open or keeps asking for my password"

  1. Try the website. Open your provider's website in a browser (type the address yourself, for example outlook.com, gmail.com, mail.yahoo.com or icloud.com) and sign in. If this works, your account is fine and the problem is in the mail app.
  2. Check your internet. Open any other website. If it won't load, the problem is your Wi-Fi, not your email. See Wi-Fi and router help.
  3. Check the password. If the website says the password is wrong, use the provider's "Forgot password" link. If you recently changed your password, mail apps on your other devices need the new one.
  4. Check your storage. A full mailbox can stop new mail arriving. The website usually shows how much space is used.
  5. Restart the mail app, then the device. It sounds simple, but it fixes many sign-in problems.
  6. Still stuck? Call us. We can see your screen and work through it with you.

Never give your password or a sign-in code to anyone who contacts you first, and that includes people who say they are from your email provider. We will never ask you to read us a sign-in code that was sent to you.

Price

$100 CAD flat for a one-time remote session. No charge if we can't fix the problem remotely.

Prices are in Canadian dollars; your card company converts the amount to US dollars at its exchange rate.

Our number is in British Columbia, Canada. Calls from the US are dialed like any US number; check with your phone provider about long-distance charges.

The fee covers up to two remote sessions for the same problem.

What remote support can and cannot do

Being honest about limits

  • We can set up mail apps, fix sign-in and sync problems, and set up two-factor sign-in with you.
  • We cannot reset or unlock an account for you. Only the email provider can do that, and it must be able to confirm it is really you.
  • We cannot bring back email that the provider has permanently deleted.
  • If we cannot fix it remotely, you are not charged.
Questions

Email questions

I'm locked out of my email. Can you get me back in?

We can sit with you while you use the provider's own account-recovery page, and help you find the phone number, backup email or code it asks for. We cannot reset a password for you, bypass a provider's checks or get into an account that is not yours. If the provider cannot verify it is you, nobody else can either.

Why did my email stop working on my computer or phone?

The most common causes are a changed password, a mail app that needs to sign in again, or full storage. We check the settings with you and fix what we can. Gmail, Yahoo and iCloud sometimes need a special app password for older mail apps, and we can walk you through making one.

Can you read my email?

We only see your screen while you are connected, the same way a family member looking over your shoulder would. You can end the session at any time, and you can choose to stay at the computer the whole time.

An email says my account will be closed unless I click a link. Is it real?

Be careful. Messages that rush you or threaten to close an account are a common trick. Do not click the link. Open your email provider's website by typing its address yourself and sign in there. If you already clicked or typed your password, call us and we will help you secure the account. See virus and scam clean-up and how to spot a tech-support scam.

How much does it cost?

A one-time remote session is a flat $100 CAD, for customers in Canada and the United States. If we cannot fix the problem remotely, you are not charged.
